HOW TO USE THIS REFRIGERATION LUBRICANT SELECTOR:

1.Obtain/confirm the following information on the application:
A. REFRIGERANT FLUID in use (ASHRAE designation).
B. Evaporator is of dry type (oil carryover less than 15%) and EVAPORATOR
TEMPERATURE in °C.
C. COMPRESSOR TYPE and outlet temperature.
2. To identify the Shield-branded lubricant(s) suitable for use in the type of compressor,
please refer to the row that corresponds to the refrigerant fluid and the evaporator
temperature.
3. If mineral and synthetic lubricants are both indicated, synthetic lubricants will in
general ofer a higher level of performance than mineral oils with respect to equipment
protection, particularly at high- and low- operating temperatures, compressor efciency,
and oil life.
4. For information on builder approvals for Shield-branded refrigeration lubricants,
please refer to Table 2 on the back page.
5. For further clarification or assistance, please contact Shield technical help line.

NOTES:
A. For equipment under warranty, please refer to equipment builder recommendations.
B. In changing refrigeration oil technology or brands, ensure thorough flushing of the
system to minimize contamination with the old technology or brand.

SHIELD RCO PAO

SHIELD SL GRADES ARE SYNTHETIC ESTER LUBRICANTS USING SELECT POLYOLESTER BASE STOCKS AND ADDITIVES PROVIDING OUTSTANDING LUBRICITY, STABILITY AND CORROSION. THESE LUBRICANTS ARE MISCIBLE IN ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANTS SUCH AS R-134A AT EXTREMELY LOW TEMPRATURES. SHIELD SL LUBRICANTS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR USE IN REFRIGERATION AND AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS CHARGED WITH OZONE FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANTS.
